🎥 In Case You Missed It! 🎥
Check out the County Commissioner’s video where Adam’s Place Second Annual National Conference on Children’s Grief Support Groups Recognized at Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign
The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas will be lit up in a ceremony Thursday, Sept. 19 at 8 a.m. in honor of Adam’s Place second annual National Conference on Children’s Grief Support Groups, “When Trauma and Grief Collide: Education and Training to Build Resilience.” Adam’s Place is a local nonprofit children’s bereavement resource.
Adam’s Place, in collaboration with The Academy of Forensic Nursing and UNLV, is hosting the conference Oct. 18. It serves as a tribute to children who have lost loved ones prematurely, honoring their memory and recognizes professionals – such as nurses, social workers and teachers – as well as caregivers
who support grieving parents, grandparents, siblings and other family members coping with
profound loss.
“Adam’s Place does wonderful work for this community in supporting children suffering from the premature loss of a loved one,” said Clark County Commission Chairman Tick Segerblom. “I’m happy that we can shine the light of this iconic sign on their work and that of the national conference.”
By highlighting the challenges faced by these children and families, Adam’s Place aims to
foster support, understanding, validation and promote healthy coping and resilience. The conference will increase knowledge and skills and grief sensitivity for caregivers and professionals who support children and teens experiencing a loss that is all too common for many children, teens and families, representatives said.
“We are thrilled to light the sign this year in honor of our 2nd Annual National Conference on October 18th, to raise awareness for the field of childhood bereavement,” said Kelly Thomas-Boyers, executive director of Adam’s Place. More conference details and to register can be found at www.adamsplacelv.org. “The Las Vegas sign is an integral part of our community’s identity, and we’re excited to bring awareness of the resources Las Vegas has to offer for children, teens, and families coping with grief and loss. We want to thank Commissioner Segerblom for his continued commitment to the field of childhood bereavement. And special thanks to our conference partners the Academy of Forensic Nursing and UNLV for making the 2nd Annual National Conference possible.”

🗣️ Talking About Suicide with Kids is Hard, But It’s Important 💬
It’s easy to avoid uncomfortable topics, but experts agree that discussing suicide with children and teens in a non-judgmental, open way won’t plant the idea in their minds—in fact, it can help prevent it. 🌟
Asking directly can be a relief for a child who’s struggling, showing them they have someone safe to talk to. Let’s break the silence and start conversations that save lives. 💛
