🍂 Happy November! 🍂
Welcome to our Adam's Place November 2025 newsletter! As the crisp air arrives and we move toward the holiday season, we recognize that this time of change can bring a complex mix of feelings—from anticipation to a deep sense of missing a loved one.
This month is also Children’s Grief Awareness Month, a vital time to shine a light on the unique challenges grieving children and teens face. Here at Adam's Place, we want you to know you are not alone. We are here to support your family as you gently navigate the holidays.
Navigating the holidays while grieving is centered on preparation, permission, and presence. Here are some ways to integrate memory-making and coping strategies into your routine:
🍂 Strategy: Acknowledge Feelings
Tip for Families: Give Permission. Let children know it's okay to feel sad, happy, or angry—even all at once. Normalize the mix of emotions during this festive time.
Memory-Making Idea: "Comfort Breaks" Plan. Discuss a quiet signal (a phrase or gesture) your child can use if they feel overwhelmed at a gathering. An adult can then take them to a calm, safe space to decompress.
🍂 Strategy: Integrate Memories
Tip for Families: Change Traditions. Don't feel obligated to do things the way they've always been done. Give yourselves permission to simplify or create new rituals to prioritize comfort over custom.
Memory-Making Idea: Thankful for You Jar. Set out a jar and have each family member write a note about something they are genuinely thankful for about the person who died. Read them aloud on Thanksgiving.
🍂 Strategy: Active Remembrance
Tip for Families: Honoring Their Presence. If it feels right, include your loved one in your celebration. This can be a subtle, comforting gesture for children.
Memory-Making Idea: Special Place Setting. Dedicate a special candle, a framed photo, or even an empty place setting at the table with an item that symbolizes your loved one's passion or
Remember to be gentle with yourselves and one another. We are here to walk this path with you. |

November is Children’s Grief Awareness Month
November marks Children’s Grief Awareness Month —a meaningful time to recognize the unique experiences and challenges faced by grieving children and teens.
Throughout this month, we honor their strength and resilience while highlighting the importance of compassionate community support. Childhood bereavement is a significant public health concern that calls on each of us to look closer, listen with care, and create safe, understanding spaces. Together, we can ensure that no grieving child feels unseen or alone this fall.

🎒 Our Fall 2025 Camp Cope sessions are nearing their final sessions, and we are grateful for the continued strength and connection we see in our peer support groups.
Camp Cope provides a free, structured environment where children, teens, and caregivers navigating loss can find understanding and build resilience. Led by our trained volunteer facilitators, participants engage in a variety of age-appropriate activities—from creative projects to heartfelt conversations—designed to help them:
- Share their stories in a confidential, safe space.
- Make friends with peers who truly understand their experience.
- Learn and practice healthy ways to cope with grief.
Our fall 2025 sessions are set to conclude this month, and we look forward to welcoming families back for our Spring 2026 Camp Cope sessions beginning in January.
