TIP FOR WORKING WITH BEREAVED CHILDREN
Acknowledging the death of a loved one and validating a bereaved child’s feelings are essential steps in their healing process. Children learn by observing adults, so modeling healthy coping behaviors is crucial. Expressive arts activities, like Hand Tracing, offer children a way to process their grief.

In this activity, children reflect on a memory of their loved one and trace their hand on paper. They then write a sensory detail (touch, sight, smell, hearing, taste) related to that memory in each finger. For example, if the memory is sledding, they might recall the taste of snowflakes, the touch of a slippery sled, and the sound of laughter.

This activity helps children connect with their memories and can be used by adults to reinforce positive associations and support the child’s emotional journey.

If there's something specific you would like to see covered in the newsletter, whether it's related to resources, educational content, inspiring stories, or any other topic, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Your feedback is invaluable in shaping a newsletter that truly caters to your needs and interests. Kindly reach out to Samantha at Samantha@adamsplacelv.org with your suggestions, and we will do our best to incorporate them into the upcoming edition.
