About the instructors:

Kelly Thomas Boyers holds a degree in education and a Masters in Business with an emphasis in healthcare. She founded local non-profit Adam’s Place in 2009 and has 15 years experience working in the field of childhood bereavement. Jacquelyn MacLeod is a certified child life specialist with 15 years experience working with children navigating illness, injury, grief, and loss. She is the Chief Program Officer at Adam’s Place and supports Adam’s Place’s Camp Cope grief support groups for children, teens, and their caregivers.

Learning objectives

After attending this course…

  • Participants will be able to describe typical developmental responses to grief and loss for children ages 9-12.
  • Participants will be able to identify at least three strategies for supporting children ages 9-12 managing the emotions of grief and loss.
  • Participants will be able to identify two activities or exercises that could be used in a peer grief support group with children ages 9-12.

Course interaction & system requirements

This live webinar is fully interactive. Attendees may ask and answer questions throughout the presentation and participate in instructor-led activities such as: breathing exercises, sharing circle, and sample activities.

System requirements to utilize Zoom

Intel 4th to 7th generation desktop CPU with 4 or more cores and CPU base frequency 3 GHz or higher. Intel Core i7 and i9 processors, 11 generation or greater, with 8 or more cores and 2.5 GHz or higher.

Fee & registration

Cost is $12 (free for Members) and includes CE credit. Register prior to the start of the live webinar. Cancellations must be received 24 hours prior to the live webinar to receive a refund.

Course completion & CE info

Course completion requirements: To earn CE credit, participants must log in at the scheduled time, attend the entire course and complete an online course evaluation. Certificates of completion will be emailed within 10 business days of course completion. Adam’s Place is an approved continuing education provider for The State of Nevada Department of Education, The Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Work, and The State of Nevada Board of Examiners for MFT & CPC.

Adam’s Place, provider number #1943, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Adam’s Place maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 1/11/2024-1/11/2025. Social workers completing this course receive 1 other continuing education credit.
